Can You Drink Tap Water in Dunaujvaros?

The municipality of Dunaujvaros in Hungary reports that up to one hundred and fifty-nine tap water sources are contaminated. The highest contamination level was fifteen units for every million milliliters. The average level is six units per million. The fifteen units per million is about the same as bottled waters.
It is not known what caused the contamination, but it is suspected that the reservoir built beneath the municipality''s sewage treatment plant may be a factor. It is also being said that some agricultural runoff may have contaminated the water table. No bacterial contamination of this nature has been detected in any of the other reservoirs throughout the country. This does not necessarily mean that there aren''t high levels of bacteria in the municipal water supply.
