Not only is it important to drink water every day but it is also important to choose the right water.

Since it came, onto the market in 1991 Coca-Cola has had to fight many battles to prove that it’s water, labelled under the name Dasani, is in fact safe to drink. It has been claimed that since Dasani water is not actually mineral water but is actually purified tap water the additives that are added to clean the water is harmful to humans. One of these additives is p0otassium chloride.

The controversy comes from the fact that potassium chloride is injected into prison inmates during the administration of the death penalty. And therefore, it was thought that Dasani cannot possibly be good to drink. However, Karen Mancl, Professor of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the Ohio State University has the following to say: “Not onl is potassium chloride common, it’s also an essential nutrient for the body.

What is perhaps the most important to realize it that potassium and chloride is added to practically all bottled water and that it poses no risk. The levels that are found in bottled water is simply not comparable to the amount that is used for the lethal injection.

Here is where the misunderstanding is though. These ingredients occur is all water and it should be noted that the amounts that are found in bottled water are of such a small percentage that they truly do not pose a harm to those that consumer the water brand.

On a side not it also worth mentioning that these ingredients can be found in almost all bottled water brands and do not only occur in Dasani.
